I.M. Cowgirl featured "the life of the Western woman."

I.M. Cowgirl ceased publication in October, 2009.

The magazine included cowboy poetry in each issue, and regular contributors included Rhonda Sedgwick Stearns and her "Gatherin' Strays" column and feature articles; Rick Huff's Western music and poetry reviews;  Jan Swan Wood's "Outtagrass Cattle Company" cartoons and humorous columns; Janine Wilder's "Trail's Best" trail-riding column, and others.

Each issue included feature articles and additional features about horses, veterinary issues, women involved in the cattle industry, style, food, humor, and more.

Minnesota rancher and poet Diane Tribitt was the I.M. Cowgirl Senior Executive Managing Editor. She now is the editor of CowboyLegacy.org, which includes some of the articles she wrote for I.M. Cowgirl and many additional features.
